This is why Laser Tools Co.’s Daylight GLX Laser Docking System™ is the perfect trailer docking assistant. A driver can “see” the laser docking lines in his wing mirrors when the truck and trailer are approaching the docking lane.

  • Eye safe, visible laser guide lights are viewed in the driver’s wing mirrors.
  • The laser guide lights can be seen over 150 feet away in direct sunlight.
  • The back of the trailer can be centered between the laser guide lights.
  • Laser guide lines are still viewable on the ramp or tarmac in low light, rain, snow, mud, or overcast conditions.

Description

GLX LASER DOCKING SYSTEM™ “WORKS IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT
High Powered Laser Now 3x Brighter!

“Green Laser Runway Lights for Freight Terminals and Warehouses”

Laser guide lights that help truck drivers back down centered to freight docks can now be seen in direct sunlight. Laser Tools Co. has introduced “Directed Energy” high powered laser light that can be seen on each side of the freight dock in bright sunlight.

This means:

  • Eye safe, visible laser guide lights are viewed in the driver’s wing mirrors.
  • The laser guide lights can be seen over 150 feet away in direct sunlight.
  • The back of the trailer can be centered between the laser guide lights.
  • Laser guide lines are still viewable on the ramp or tarmac in low light, rain, snow, mud, or overcast conditions.

Loading Dock Laser Guide Beams

This is why Laser Tools Co.’s Laser Docking™ System is the perfect trailer docking assistant. A driver can “see” the laser docking lines in his wing mirrors when the truck and trailer are approaching the docking lane. This guides the driver while backing up to the loading dock. Also, the laser lines provide a visual indication that the trailer is centered to the loading dock.

How a Laser Docking™ System Works

If you shine a laser beam onto a floor, you’ll see a dot. If you install line generating optics, the dot will turn into a line. But viewing the dot or line from the point of view beside or behind the laser is not totally revealing. If you stand in front of the laser line generator module and look at the laser line, the increased brightness is noticeable. This is because you are viewing the incident light reflected off of the floor. Also the viewable line is much longer. This means that the brighter laser line can be seen in low ambient light conditions and farther away from the laser module itself.

Competitive Difference

There are two schools of thought regarding laser docking effectiveness.  Increase the power of the laser light to maximize diffused irradiance.  This means hit it with a “hammer”.  This is what all other laser docking manufactures do.  They shine the laser light from high above the dock.

We use Specular Reflection instead.  We bounce the laser light into the wing mirrors of the truck when the driver is backing down the ramp.  We use the incident or reflected light off of the ramp.  The driver can see the laser lines 120’ away in low light, evening, rain, snow ,mud and night time.

Also, our new system uses part of the laser light to shine directly into the wing mirrors.  Now, the driver can see this “laser spot light” on each side of the dock even in direct sunlight!

FAQ's

I am interested in learning more about your laser docking system. I have a few questions below that I am hoping you can answer for me.

Are the lines visible during the day?  Not in direct sunlight.  We have another system that uses direct energy laser light and laser lines that works 24/7.

Is the unit waterproof or does it have an IP rating? IP65  Not waterproof.  It’s NEMA 3 and rainproof.  We can provide waterproof and corrosive proof enclosures if necessary.

What temperature ranges does it operate in?  -10°C- 40°C nominally.  We can provide heated enclosures that will operate down to -20°C.

What is the length of the laser projection?  The laser lines are about 60’ long but the truck driver see the “Specular Reflection” of the laser lines at over 120’ away.

What height do you recommend it be installed at? 4-6’ high and next to the dock bumpers.

Can you provide an equipment specification sheet?  Sure.  See attached spec. sheet on the GLX58BAC-30 Green Laser Module.  The Steel Enclosure is a Hoffman 8”x8”x4” Electrical Enclosure that includes an 110VAC internal duplex electrical box and receptacle for the AC adapter that powers the laser module.

Is there any safety information available on the lasers? The lasers are CDRH Class IIIa and IEC Class 3R.  This means that they are eye safe.

Can you please tell me the difference between the different diode options?  Green lasers are generally brighter than red lasers when compared at the same power or Class.  But you can increase the power which can increase the irradiance of the light.  The length of line or cross section has an effect too.
